This is a response to an email I received RE: my run-in with the Secret Service. I thought the response was appropriate to much of what has been voiced to me about how I was rude or it isn't a big deal what happened, so here it is:
Don't worry about offending me at all, our Constitution guarantees us the right to free speech, not freedom from offense ;) and I believe that aside from the Bible our Constitution is the finest document ever conceived. It outlines the plan for a government of revolutionary function: One that will exist solely to esure the safety of its citizens as they live their lives in freedom. Any time the government oversteps that line it has set itself against its people and the brilliance of the founding ideal of this nation is at risk.
A lack of knowledge can indeed lead to fear and hate; in this instance however a lack of knowledge is about to lead to a very poor choice of leadership for this nation. Wealth redistribution is the least of Obama's sins. It is the radical worldview he espouses that leads to his decision that in the sake of fairness money should be confiscated from the better off and given to the less fortunate that is truly dangerous.
I am a Christian and I often imagine what I could do with a lot of money to give out in my own community. I enjoy helping people charitably but I don't enjoy someone telling me how much and to what purpose I should "donate".
It is a noble purpose to seek understanding and harmony sir, but my understanding of biblical teaching and thousands of years of human history point to the fact that this is an imperfect world. There will be no Utopia here because competing and contradictory visions of Utopia abound.
Where is the Utopia which includes both the promiscuous and the fundamentalist Muslim who believes she deserves to be raped for her 'sins'? Where is the Utopia which includes both the black and the klansman? Where is the Utopia for the Black Separatist and the Forced Integrationist? Where is the Utopian school for children whose parents run the spectrum from strictly no sex talk to those who embrace their children being taught about intercourse between two men at age 9?
Do you see my point? I do not share a particular view with the Obama campaign. They consider his votes...well I can't remember how they last excused them but they say they certainly weren't votes for infanticide. I say what in the world is it called when living infants are left to die in closets? At the least it's negligent manslaughter. I should not have to change my opinion for the peace and harmony of the world. My opinion is not endangering someone. Actions endanger people. And so do inactions like refusing to sign legislation that would save the lives of living, breathing infants.
Utopia is where there is perfect peace and harmony and no disagreements. The only way to acheive such a place, as amply displayed by Mao's China, North Korea, National Socialism in Germany, and the Soviet Union is to SILENCE DISSENT. This is acheived by intimidation and eventually imprisonment and or murder of those who will not share the "Utopian" vision of those in power.
I greatly fear the consequences of this sort of mild intimidation going unpublicized. So I remain silent and people don't get to call me a racist and a liar and a hater and I go on with my nice quiet life...but what happens when many incidents like this go unchecked? What happens when people start ratting out the neighbors who don't seem as enthusiastic about the new leader as they should?
At one point in time all nations that became fascist nightmares were full of little tales like this one. Stuff that just happened to someone else and wasn't a big deal. Then there were more and more and by the time anyone stood up it was too late. Maybe nothing bad is in store for this country, I truly hope that is the case, but I will not be one of those who remained silent. I want my story to be known even if it is just an isolated misunderstanding. Better to do something in the face of nothing than nothing in the face of something.
